From the skilled artisans of the past to today's engineers, architects, and laborers, their resilience, innovation, and excellence have left an indisputable mark, despite the marginalization, oppression, and injustice they so wrongly endured for so many years. Their legacy is not just in the structures they built - which are significant! - but also in the barriers they broke, paving the way for a more inclusive future in the trades. Recognizing these contributions not only honors their legacy but also reinforces the importance of belonging and community for everyone in the building trades.

Today, we clearly see and acknowledge that a richness of diversity is our greatest asset in the trades. It's the multitude of experiences, backgrounds, and ideas that drive innovation and excellence in
everything we do. When we embrace the full spectrum of diversity, we unlock new possibilities, solve complex problems more creatively, and build projects that better serve our communities. Today, women, veterans, people of color, and particularly individuals from Black communities, are not just joining the trades but thriving in them. Their contributions are not only welcomed, they are essential, bringing fresh perspectives, skills, and ideas to the table.
